During World War II, a Nazi soldier named Evander struggled with the brutal conflict, torn between his loyalty to Germany and his kind heart. While raiding a British town, he killed a man protecting his family, leaving behind a grieving young girl. Elle, a fellow German soldier, found the child and promised to protect her. As the three of them traveled together, Evander began to soften, seeing Elle’s compassion and kindness, while Elle grew to understand that Evander was not like the other soldiers, showing him kindness despite the war. As they sought refuge in the forest, Evander and Elle were confronted by a group of Nazi soldiers. Elle revealed that she was actually from the UK, not Germany, but had lied to save their lives. Despite his deep love for her, Evander was forced to choose between loyalty to his comrades and his feelings for Elle. When the officer ordered him to kill them both, Evander was filled with torment. In a heartbreaking moment of decision, he raised his rifle toward Elle, his love and guilt overwhelming him, and pulled the trigger. The story leaves us questioning whether he followed through with the act, or if the love between them would somehow survive.
